I'm counting down the days to go

Gerard Way! -- you delicious piece of man-snaff!! Back to his glorious, long-haired self again on the cover of this week's NME. We are highly pleased :) A new album on the way, a new baby girl (Bandit Lee) and a wholly new, "more real" sound; The Black Parade is truly a thing of the past. Not that it wasn't enjoyable. Far from it. Black-haired G is just soo much more enjoyable :) Bah! My mind is in such a happy spin I don't have the attention capacity to regale you with snippets of the interview. Just buy it, and read it. Purely for this article. And smouldering snaps of G. Way.

In other news, I journeyed back to Hartlepool (can't keep away these days!) after word reached me that my buccaneer boots had arrived. And they are FANTASTIC! Looking forward to the start of lectures again on Monday; film screening at 2pm should be fun! My new boots may even get their first trip round the Toon on Monday night. Ahh!! But for now, there's nothing else to do except watch more Gossip Girl with my sister. Ciao!

Not unknot plus not unknot equals unknots?

No, it's (k)not. (J'aime les paroles! -- et aussi les cravates!) :]

http://www.tie-rack.co.uk/

Ahh! I love being back in Newcastle! Not only am I reunited with my fabulous sushi pals, but my eyes are suddenly opened to an amazing little Tie Rack stall that I must have walked past like a million times before! They have the most gorgeous ties you could imagine, not forgetting those paisley silk neckercheifs! And since there happened to be a sale as a friend and I strolled past (Universe, I'm taking you're hint), I treated myself to two ties. £3.74 each - reduced from about £14!! This makes Andrew very happy, as do trips anew to Blackwells, Yo!Sushi, Waterstones and Starbucks all in one afternoon. And boy, has that gossip mill been working hard over Christmas! Not only are there tales of horrendously cringeworthy sexual escapades making the rounds (which shall be discussed no further here!), we also stand faced with an horizon of prospective gentlemen, an intricate web of double barrell stealing marriage schemes and relocation, relocation. Exciting stuff!

Finally! after what seems like an age, I have purchased a book to read purely for pleasure, with no obligations to my degree. That last part may be slightly questionable due to newly-sprung ponderings on a topic for my dissertation next year, which for the minute looks like it might be taking root in the Tudor/Renaissance era. Anyway! The book in question is Ken Follett's The Pillars Of The Earth: which has recieved high praise from the BBC, Sunday Times, Sunday Express and Cosmo, no less.

So I shall update on this as it progresses at another date, but for now I'll be settling down to plough through a couple more chapters of Eliot's Middlemarch in preperation for upcoming lectures. I think that's all. Oh, and Nine was a fail. Or, more specifically, I should say that the website of the cinema in question is a fail. Unimpressive times.

somno semper

Ahhh! Countdown of my top, upcoming films to be completed soon!! (with trailers).

In the meantime, I've been shopping! yaayyy! Even if it was only in Hartlepool again, but it cheered my up sooo much after my stressful week of essays :) And I know for sure that I've been watching Gossip Girl far too much now since everything I picked up off the rail yesterday, I found myself asking: "Would Chuck Bass/Nate Archibald wear this?" (this is a bad thing?) Ohhh but the clothes are sooo amazing!!

And after spending near enough £100 yesterday on clothes (including sale items!), I'm still crying out for more!! Cue, Wishlist - which includes:

  • Various amazing shirt/tie combinations (Next/M&S)
  • Snood!! (All Saints)
  • Low waistcoat (Peacocks)
  • Military button jacket (River Island)
  • C19-esque coat!! (LarpStore)
  • Buccaneer boots (Ebay)
  • White lace-neck ruff shirt (LarpStore)
  • Black standing collar ruff shirt (LarpStore)
  • Stag necklace (Blonde and Wise)

I just ordered the Buccaneer boots tonight as well, so I should have them by the weekend!! I literally cannot wait!! I'm going to be saving some serious money too for those ruff shirts because they're insanely expensive but soo gorgeous! And that long coat as well, ahh!! I'm going to need someone to restrain me now that I've fallen in love with them.
It's time now to continue Gossip Girl season 2 with my sister, so I'll be dashing away to that. Looking forward to being back in Newcastle on Wednesday for sushi with my literature girlies and a trip to the cinema to see Nine :) Wednesday afternoon will also see me returning to tap classes with the university dance team - highly excited for thisss! I heard the music for our new routine last night and it's incredible, I got up and danced right then and there! It's infectious:

Nights in SquareVision

Okay so, I've been dying to blog about this for days, but the stress of essays has been at the forefront of every waking thought this past week, and has drained me quicker than a cheap Duracell to the point where I had a partial melt-down. I'm not going to lie, it really wasn't pretty. But! After all the sleep deprivation, I managed to get two of my essays in on time (hoorayy!), and I'm working on submitting my third as late. I'm really grateful to my friends and flatmates for comforting me as I very quickly went out of my mind, and I'm glad that now I can be the one to pay a little back as I take my turn making cups of tea and providing hugs, back rubs and various other rescue remedies. But on to the main order of business...

I just wanted to blog about a couple of the upcoming films that I'm really excited for since, believe it or not, I think the last time I payed a visit to the cinema was way back in September! I'm making it my priority to see Nine within the next couple of weeks with my sushi girls. But after that, oh my, does it get exciting! So let's start.

4. The Wolfman
  • Dir: Joe Johnston
  • Release: Universal
  • Stars of note: Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria) and Benico Del Toro
  • ETR: February 12th 2010

I'm excited for this one mainly because it looks like it has the potential to actually be a 'good' werewolf movie, something which I don't think we've had since the American Werewolf in Paris/London days. The film sees Del Toro's character returning to his home in 1800s Blackmoor, England, having received news that his brother was brutally murdered. No prizes for guessing what did the deed. And so his Del Toro's Lawrence goes about hunting and killing the beast, but only ends up getting bitten himself. Cue: village massacres, grisly body dismorphia and a rampage in London.

3. Salt

  • Dir: Philip Noyce
  • Release: Columbia
  • Stars of note: Angelina Jolie (she is going to carry this film by herself excellently!)
  • ETR: July 23rd 2010

The film sees Jolie as a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt, who steps in to question a suspected terrorist conspiritor. During the interrogation he reveals that later the same day, there will be an attempt on the President's life by a Russian spy named, Evelyn Salt. Interesting, hmmm. Even more interesting when the seemingly not so not-shifty Salt starts to flee suspiciously, all the while rejecting outright any truth in the detainee's accusations. Hmmm... Can't wait to see how this one unfolds.

Ugh! I didn't even realise how late/early it was. Feels like I've been awake far too long again! I'll get back to finishing the rest of this count down tomorrow evening sometime after I've had some more sleep. I blame a new addiction to my Brothers & Sisters boxset. It's just too good!!!

Street lights, big dreams all looking pretty...

With my Semester 1 essay(s) deadline now looking terrifyingly close (Friday, 4pm - ahhhhh! :), I take this time to lift my spirits for a brief moment - and to refuel on coffee.

I am soooo excited for this film and I really cannot wait for May 28th!! Also, loving the Jay-Z/Alicia Keys track on this trailer. Perfect.

So I have approximately 6hours to write another 1468 words of my Renaissance poetry, and then about 19hours to write my 3000 word Sci-Fi essay. Doable? Possibly? Maybe. We'll see. And yes, I'll not be sleeping until they're both done since it takes me a stupidly and incomprehensibly long time to write essays even when I've got it planned out right in front of me. I'll be needing every minute. I'm also mid-sentence on Aristotelian theories of cosmology so I'll get back to that. Why, oh! why?!

Decisions! Decisions!

This has just made my night and I simply had to blog about it. After what seems like a lifetime of searching, I have finally found my fantasy boots! (left). Ahhhh!! However, within literally seconds I stumbled upon another gorgeous pair by Red or Dead (right). I'm so torn right now since I love both pairs!! The turnovers come in at an reasonable £24.99, while the Red or Dead pair stand at £124.99. Wince! I know it's utterly useless me trying to come to any sort of decision between them as I will most likely just end up purchasing both pairs once my student loan comes in! Oh and not forgetting those brogues that I spied in T K Max... Hm, there goes my resolution to watch what I spend on footwear etc.
Tomorrow I'll be making my way back to Newcastle (if I don't get snowed in!) and I'm really looking forward to seeing the city again, as well as my smelly bed. Saturday evening will, will, will! see me making a start on my essays (with just under seven days till deadline). Prepare: lots of coffee, lots of crisps & chocolate and lots of all-nighters.
Please, please please someone come and kick me repeatedly to make me do work! Trying so hard to banish the words, "I.Am.Fucked," from my mind...
